I want to welcome all of the children to our Catechism Class and write this short biography for all of the parents.
I have two daughters, Carrie Warman and Katie Sullivan, and have been married to John Joyner since 1992. I was raised in
the Baptist Church, mainly Southern Baptist, but my grandparents were Missionary Baptist. Even as a young child I was drawn
to the Catholic Church and studied the catechism on my own and went to Mass with friends whenever I could. However,
there were issues that I couldn't wholly embrace. Then, when I was 17 and a student at Northside High School in Warner Robins
my home ec teacher, Mrs. McMeans, had her priest come speak to my class. Father Chet Grey of All Saint's Episcopal spoke
to us about the sanctity of marriage. I was very interested in what he had to say. As I learned more about the Episcopal Church
from Molly McMeans, my teacher's daughter, I wanted to attend. I was very lucky that my parents were open minded about my
searching for the church that was right for me. I began attending All Saints, then later attended St. Margaret's in Carrollton,
where I was confirmed.
There is so much I love about the Episcopal Chruch, especially the fact that we are not only given the opportunity, but
are encouraged to think for ourselves. And the Church teaches us to love our neighbors as ourselves and to respect
our fellow man. But I also love the liturgy of the Eucharist and that is why I am teaching this class. I want everyone
to feel welcome to the class and to feel free to ask questions or to give suggestions to the class content. I want
this to be fun and informative.
